Your sleeve measurement is not to be taken lightly. A jacket or coat with too-short sleeves is a tell-tale sign that the fit is wrong, while sleeves that are too long will make you look like a kid who has stolen a suit from your pops.
Reiteration: sleeve length matters! Here’s how to get it right (guide for both men and women):
- flexible measuring tape
- a friend, or any willing and helping hand
Bend your elbow and put your hand on your hip. Have your pal take the measuring tape and measure from the centre back of your neck to your elbow, and from the elbow to your wrist. The total length is your sleeve measurement!
If you’re also asked for your sleeve inseam measurement, measure from under the armpit to your wrist.
